Rev. jeff obafemi carr

The Reverend jeff obafemi carr is an Interfaith Spiritual Activist and Award-Winning Filmmaker, Media Scientist, Writer, Social Commentator and serial Weaver of Dreams. His creative projects have been featured on National Public Radio, at The Smithsonian’s Discovery Theatre, and on theatrical stages across the United States for the last three decades. His community work, which includes creating micro-homes for the Homeless and programs for young people, has been highlighted in USAToday, The Atlantic, and Al-Jazeera USA. He Ain’t Heavy: Pledging Underground, his debut feature film, took 10 years to conceive, 2 years to produce, and 7 years to find its way from the legendary underground of cult film into the mainstream. carr is an alumnus of HBCU Tennessee State University (’90), where he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. during the final years of “above ground” initiation. He also served as President of the Student Government Association. carr dubs HAHPU a “joc-umentary” film, as it--like all of his work--defies traditional classification.
